Appropriate exercise during and after pregnancy is essential for the health and happiness of both mums-to-be and mums with bubs. These exercises should be tailored for each individual as not every type of exercise is healthy or even safe for mums-to-be and mums with bubs.
At Studio PP, we love to help mums ensure a healthy pregnancy and with a successful recovery following pregnancy.
Far too many women suffer from complications throughout their pregnancy and after giving birth due to a lack of knowledge on how to look after themselves and what exercises are appropriate for them at specific times. Our programs are specifically designed to help minimise and overcome those challenges and can be started at any point during your pregnancy – even if you are in your third trimester or months/years post birth..
Our pre and post-natal programs will help you strengthen your whole body, as well as specifically focusing on your deep core muscles (including your pelvic floor).
Mums-to-be need strong deep core muscles to:
- Help prepare your body for labour and possibly decrease pushing time
- Help prevent incontinence once baby arrives
- Help minimise occurrence and severity of abdominal separation
- Help reduce incidence and severity of back pain and pelvic instability
- Help you return to pre-pregnancy fitness (and faster)
Plus, exercise has numerous health benefits for your baby, so that’s even more reason to keep yourself moving throughout your pregnancy!
Mums with bubs need strong deep core muscles to:
- Help your body recover from pregnancy and labour
- Help reduce back pain, pelvic pain and neck pain
- Help heal abdominal separation
- Help heal incontinence
- Help increase overall strength and fitness you now need in your role as a mum
Our pre/post-natal instructors are qualified to look after your (and bub’s) safety, and that is always our primary concern. For mums to be, it is essential you get approval from your GP/OB to exercise. For mums with bubs, it is essential to get approval from your GP/OB at your 6-week check-up.
